I remember the last holiday season I had with my mom. It was over 20 years ago now, and I remember it being a really hard time. She had put in for leave at work, and while at the time I didn’t fully understand the gravity of what was happening, it was like there was a dark cloud over us, and really, a heaviness, and no matter what we did during that time, it was always there.
She ended up passing away only a couple of months later, and it was devastating, though this would only be the beginning of what felt like a never-ending tunnel of mourning, heartache, loss and longing, coupled with serious bouts of depression and anxiety. Many times, it felt like I was on a roller coaster, and there was no way to get off. Even when I did get off, the hopelessness and not knowing how to take control of my life were always there.
With this, over the years, I remember the holidays being some of the hardest times. It’s not like we had a lot of rituals for the holidays, but the ritual of being with my mom was enough, and I was truly lonely without her. It seemed like no matter what I did, nothing could take away the pain in my heart.
It took decades to move through this and come back to myself. Of course, I was grateful for the family I did have, though, it would never be the same again. Instead, it would be a new normal. With the right tools, grieving and eventually, healing, though, I would find joy, love and peace again during this time.
And, it’s because of this, and really going through this pain over and over, that I created the Bringing in Light for the Holidays Online Group Energy Clearing.
No one should have to be alone for the holidays or have to suffer in silence with anxiety and depression. I want to help because I know how painful this time can be for many, and I know how powerful energy clearing can be in clearing some of our deepest and darkest times. This, coupled with being part of a group feeling similarly, can be truly helpful.
